At the Army’s Prepositioned Stock (APS) site at Camp Carroll, Korea, AECOM provides supervision, labor, incidental materials, and other services necessary to perform Organizational, Direct Support (DS), and limited General Support (GS) level inspections and maintenance on tracked and wheeled combat vehicles, construction & engineer equipment, material handling equipment, support vehicles & trailers, ground support & special purpose equipment, as well as weapons and turret systems.
Within one year of starting work at Camp Carroll, AECOM and its government teammates brought 1,520 pieces of equipment to 10/20 standards, improving operational readiness from 20 percent to 100 percent. Since then, AECOM’s employees have performed nearly 300 tasks a month, amounting to 700 cyclic maintenance services and over 3,200 exercises on APS-4 assets annually. We maintain inventory, manage shelf-life, inspect and preserve stock, and perform Care of Supplies in Storage (COSIS) for 17,000 line items of materiel.
Employing Lean Six Sigma concepts, AECOM has saved the Army nearly $1.1 million by streamlining maintenance processes and improving supply chain efficiency. AECOM reduced Humvee (HMMWV) maintenance and repair cycle time from 2-3 days to 1.5 days. Camp Carroll’s successful implementation of these processes has been recognized at the highest levels of the U.S. Army. Additionally, we have put in place measures to reduce the time to respond to new operational requirements, ensuring maximum responsiveness to changing needs.
