AECOM named one of the “World’s Most Ethical Companies” for fourth-consecutive year

AECOM announced today that it has been named a 2014 World’s Most Ethical Company® by the Ethisphere Institute.

This is the fourth year in a row that Ethisphere has named AECOM as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies, a designation awarded to firms that demonstrate leadership in embracing ethical business practices that raise the standard for industry peers and corporate behavior.

“Continuing to make the World’s Most Ethical Companies list year after year is a significant achievement that recognizes AECOM’s commitment to ethics and integrity in everything that we do,” said Michael S. Burke, AECOM president and chief executive officer.  “Business results are a critical measure of our success, but how we achieve those results is every bit as important.”

The Ethisphere Institute is an independent center of research promoting best practices in corporate ethics and governance.  This year — the eighth year Ethisphere has published the annual World’s Most Ethical Companies list — 144 companies from 41 industries across five continents were named.

“The entire community of World’s Most Ethical Companies believes that customers, employees, investors and regulators place a high premium on trust and that ethics and good governance are key in earning it,” said Ethisphere’s Chief Executive Officer, Timothy Erblich.  “AECOM joins an exclusive community committed to driving performance through leading business practices.  We congratulate everyone at AECOM for this extraordinary achievement.”

The World’s Most Ethical Company assessment is based upon the Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient™ framework.  The framework has been developed through years of effort to provide a means to assess an organization’s performance in an objective, consistent and standardized way.  The information collected provides a comprehensive sampling of definitive criteria of core competencies, rather than all aspects of corporate governance, risk, sustainability, compliance and ethics.  The Ethics Quotient framework and methodology were determined, vetted and refined by the expert advice and insights gleaned from Ethisphere’s network of thought leaders as well as the World’s Most Ethical Companies Methodology Advisory Panel.

Scores are generated in five key categories: ethics and compliance program (25%), reputation, leadership and innovation (20%), governance (10%), corporate citizenship and responsibility (25%) and culture of ethics (20%).  For more information about the 2014 World’s Most Ethical Companies methodology and list, visit http://ethisphere.com/worlds-most-ethical/wme-honorees/.
