Waste from oil production and refinery activities includes hazardous materials. Disposing of these materials can be risky and must be done to the highest of standards to avoid harming the environment. As part of a waste infrastructure programme with Petrom — a Romanian integrated oil company and the largest oil and gas producer in Southeast Europe — AECOM has delivered construction of waste treatment, landfill facilities and supporting infrastructure including landfills, bioremediation plants, roads, pipelines and fencing, to
treat oily contaminated sludges and soils across eight Petrom oil and gas operations in Romania, setting high standards in safe waste treatment, removal and disposal across the country.
