DETROIT (March 12, 2018) — AECOM, a premier, fully integrated global infrastructure firm, announced today that G. Jerry Attia, American Institute of Architects (AIA) has been named vice president, managing principal of the firm’s Detroit, Michigan Buildings and Places (B+P) business within its Design and Consulting Services group, effective immediately.

Mr. Attia, an architect by training, is originally from Detroit and brings more than 20 years of management, design and financial experience to his new role. As the City of Detroit continues its journey to renaissance, urban renewal initiatives offer ample development opportunities in the areas of water, transportation and vertical construction. Mr. Attia will focus on cultivating new business and driving growth through AECOM’s integrated service offerings throughout the region.

“We are very pleased that Jerry has joined our AECOM team, continuing our focus on design excellence. We know he will be successful in working with clients and communities in the area, leveraging AECOM’s multidisciplinary approach and smart, resilient city strategies to the continuing renewal and regeneration work across greater Detroit,” said Rebecca Nolan, AECOM’s executive vice president of its Buildings and Places business.

Mr. Attia joins AECOM from architectural firm ROSSETTI, where he was responsible for capturing and expanding the firm’s national and international sports and entertainment practice and managed profit/loss, business development and operations responsibilities. He holds Professional Architecture Registrations in the District of Columbia, Michigan, New York and Virginia.

Mr. Attia brings a wealth of local know-how to the business practice at AECOM. He recently led the design team for the Henry Ford Detroit Pistons Corporate Headquarters and Performance Center’s record breaking US$110 million multipurpose NBA training facility, corporate office, health care and retail project. While leading the design team for the Pistons’ new headquarters, he also supported and encouraged the Pistons’ ownership to relocate from outlying Auburn Hills to the Detroit New Center Area.
