ECOM expands its Cumbria-based team with key appointments

8 November 2016 – Global infrastructure services firm AECOM has expanded its team in Cumbria with two new senior appointments, who together bring valuable nuclear and environmental remediation expertise that will benefit clients across the region.

Graham Beaven has joined the company as Associate Director in its Westlakes team. With 30 years’ experience in the nuclear sector, Graham will be responsible for expanding AECOM’s service offering in radioactive waste management. Graham joins AECOM from Dounreay Site Restoration Limited (DSRL), the site licence company responsible for decommissioning the UK’s former centre of fast reactor research, where he was a Senior Project Manager specialising in radioactive waste management and safety, including operations, compliance and strategy.

Also joining the Westlakes team is Selena Pearce, who has been appointed to the role of Technical Director – Environment and Ground Engineering. Selena joins the team from AECOM’s Manchester office. She is a chartered engineer with 25 years’ experience in environmental engineering and waste management. Selena will be responsible for growing the company’s local expertise across a range of environmental disciplines and ground engineering.

Carole Hastings, Regional Director at AECOM, said: “Graham and Selena bring valuable skills and experience to our growing team in Cumbria as we look to expand our capabilities and service offering for clients across the North West. Their appointments augment our presence in the region, where we support private and public sector clients across a range of sectors with technical consultancy and project and programme delivery.”

AECOM has maintained a base in Cumbria for more than 25 years and continues to grow its local capabilities in response to its clients’ emerging needs. Additional services delivered by the team in Westlakes include nuclear decommissioning, civil and structural engineering, architectural design, building surveying, construction delivery, asset management, and project and programme management. The company is committed to providing career opportunities for Cumbrian-based school leavers and graduates. There are a number of employees at the office who joined from local schools and are currently working towards chartered engineer status.

Graham and Selena started their new roles last month.
