Hydrostor Inc. and AECOM announce partnership to deploy Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) systems globally

AUSTIN, TX (Oct. 4, 2016) — Hydrostor Inc. (Toronto, Ontario) and AECOM announced a partnership to jointly develop, market, propose and construct projects using Hydrostor’s Adiabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage technology connected with their proprietary underwater air cavity or in underground geological formations.

This global partnership will accelerate deployment of one of the lowest cost, bulk-energy storage technologies available. To satisfy the growing energy storage market, Hydrostor and AECOM will offer complete turnkey and warranted energy storage projects.

“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with AECOM,” said Curtis VanWalleghem, Hydrostor President & CEO. “Matching Hydrostor’s technology with AECOM’s design and execution capabilities results in a compelling case for compressed air to be the leading solution in the long-duration segment of the energy storage market.”

“We’re excited about the opportunity to partner with Hydrostor and deliver advanced generation of compressed air energy storage technologies,” said Travis Starns, Business Development Manager – Energy Storage, AECOM. “Technology innovation has changed the way electricity is being generated and delivered to end-users and we recognize the potential for long-duration storage technologies in a clean energy future.”

AECOM is ranked the No. 1 global design firm by Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine. As a fully integrated firm, AECOM has extensive experience delivering energy storage projects from concept through planning and delivery.
