What will be covered?

The webinar will present how using High Resolution Site Characterization (HRSC) data and mass flux/discharge concepts can improve Conceptual Site Models (CSM) and decrease long-term remedial costs.  By using HRSC tools to evaluate mass flux/discharge at a high resolution and combining acquired data into a 3-D model representation of the site, the key contaminant mass migration channels can be identified and initial remedial efforts can be focused to a smaller area. The webinar will also present  a case study of a site with a large dilute plume of chlorinated ethenes in Washington, D.C. A high-res mass flux CSM was used at the site to improve the existing CSM and decrease the long-term remedial cost.

Why Attend?

This webinar is directed to remediation practitioners facing characterization or remediation challenges with complex hydrogeology and is a unique opportunity to learn how a high-resolution CSM was developed based on information obtained using HRSC tools to evaluate mass flux/discharge.

Speaker: Ankit Gupta, AECOM

Ankit Gupta has a MS in Environmental Engineering from Virginia Tech, a B.Tech. in Biotechnology from Indian Institute of Technology, and is a Project Manager and Environmental Engineer at AECOM’s Arlington VA office, and serves as Subsurface Investigation Technical Practice Group Leader. His expertise is in design of HRSC investigations incorporating mass flux analysis to develop 3-D High-Res Mass Flux CSMs for complex sites as well as development of numerical groundwater flow and fate-and-transport models. Mr. Gupta also has expertise in remediation engineering of chlorinated solvents, munitions constituents, and petroleum hydrocarbon plumes using a variety of remedial technologies such as EISB, ISCR, ZVI, MNA, excavation and off-site disposal, and PRBs.
