AECOM grows water leadership within its Americas Design and Consulting Services group

LOS ANGELES (Oct. 17, 2017) — AECOM, a premier, fully integrated global infrastructure firm, announced today that it has named Sergio Bazarevitsch senior vice president, water design-build and Quirien Muylwyk, MASc., P.Eng. vice president, water quality, both within the Americas Design and Consulting Services group.

Mr. Bazarevitsch will oversee the design build practice, a critical growth area, and develop integrated and efficient solutions for AECOM’s process for building infrastructure systems. He comes to AECOM with over thirty years of experience in design and build of a wide variety of power, industrial, federal, municipal and commercial projects. He has a proven track record in strategic delivery methods utilizing collaborative efforts across business lines.

“I’m very excited to welcome Sergio to our team,” said Dave Dickey, AECOM executive vice president, Water. “His experience and knowledge in the design build practice will be instrumental to creating opportunities that allows us to expand our integrated delivery solutions to our clients. With his leadership and the breadth of our resources at AECOM, we have tremendous opportunities in front of us.”

Prior to joining AECOM, Mr. Bazarevitsch was vice president, integrated project delivery for Brown and Caldwell and vice president, western region with CDM Constructors. As a senior leader with both of these organizations, he was tasked with managing profit and loss centers as well as developing standardized project execution procedures to maintain uniform planning, scheduling, estimating, procurement and construction management across the western United States. He has taken total project management responsibility for both private and municipal sectors.

Mr. Bazarevitsch holds a bachelor of science in Civil Engineering from California State University, Fullerton. He is a licensed Class A general engineering contractor in several states and Class C-20 heating and ventilation contractor in California.

Quirien Muylwyk, as the practice director for water quality for the Americas, will consider drinking water issues through the lens of water quality, whether that is in the source water (algae), in the plant (pathogens and filter performance), or in the distribution system (lead and other legacy inorganics, corrosion control, and disinfectant residual maintenance). Ms. Muylwyk comes to AECOM with more than 20 years of experience in strategic planning for regulatory compliance and growth, the design and construction of new works and process optimization for municipal water systems. She is a process engineer practicing exclusively in the treatment of drinking water, emphasizing issues affecting emerging issues, regulatory compliance and process optimization – all with the goal of protecting public health.

“With the growth of our water treatment business and success in resolving our client’s challenges with water quality it was clear we needed to expand our capabilities and leadership of the key issues impacting our water systems,” said Jonathan Pressdee, AECOM vice president, drinking water market sector leader. “We are delighted to have Quirien join our team and provide a focus to address water quality holistically from source to the consumer’s tap. With her expertize and leadership with AWWA committees to develop water quality best practices, AECOM is even better served to support our clients across the Americas.”

Prior to joining AECOM, Ms. Muylwyk held various leadership positions at CH2M, most recently serving as the Canada Business Development and Technology Manager in the Water business group. She has worked with many municipal organizations including the City of Winnipeg examining distribution system water quality issues, and planning and implementing major capital upgrades to water treatment plants for the Region of Peel, City of Toronto, City of Ottawa, and City of Hamilton among others across Canada and globally (in the US, Australia, and Hong Kong).

Ms. Muylwyk holds a masters degree of Applied Science, Civil Engineering, from the University of Toronto. She is a professional engineer, Ontario, as well as an active member with the American Water Works Association.
