Australia is experiencing rapid but uncertain change across its geo-political landscape. Around the world, economies are fluctuating, correcting, booming and faltering, and big decisions are being debated, enacted and managed with furious pace, setting the future path – and likelihood of success – of countries.

An increase in political extremism, combined with increased voter apathy, is leading conversation to shift from managing economic and social growth within a local or regional context, to one of ensuring economic and social resilience in a global context.

Housing affordability, social cohesion, access to healthcare, congestion, urbanism and food security are all issues that will knock on the door of the planning profession. But do we have the skills, information and tools to respond?

A robust debate is required about how best to deal with these long-term issues that, as planners, we must address now. Disruptive thinking throws out the rule-book, shakes up the status quo, and approaches issues with new perspectives.

Using information gained from related but innovative fields, disruptive thinking forces us to ask the important question “What if?”, and drives us to consider divergent views on how technological or economic trends will influence our lives.

Who we are:

We are a team of urban designers, strategic planners, landscape architects, architects and technical professionals who work in a collaborative environment and believe in the future of our communities, cities and rural areas. We draw from our deep and varied experience to shape our teams for the needs of the client and project.

City building, strategic thinking and place making are complex processes; the role of town planning and master planning is to establish the strategic planning and design context that supports further development. This means enlivening further investment through the creation of the right place, planning framework, or governance structure.

Our planning and master planning team reflects the diversity needed to tackle complex urban and rural issues – from the scale of a city block, a precinct, or a new community.

We know that delivering a shared vision requires a team that is respected, collaborative and prepared to innovate.
