This annual scholarship is a legacy to our colleague, the late Dr Jonathan Harris with the aim to support the academic development and achievement of undergraduate engineers at James Cook University.

The prize

  • $5,000 per academic year for 2 years towards your studies
  • Work experience at one of AECOM’s world-class offices
  • The chance to participate in thesis mentoring during final year
  • Increased consideration for a Graduate position
  • Applicants will be considered for vacation work

Terms and Conditions
To be eligible for the Dr Jonathan Harris Scholarship you must:

  • Be an undergraduate student at James Cook University, completing a Bachelor degree or dual degree program
    with a focus on an area of Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
  • Be an undergraduate student who is in their second or third year of study at the conclusion of semester, 2023
  • Be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status
  • Have a grade point average of 5 or above at the time of application

About Dr Jonathan Harris

Jonathan grew up in Tasmania where his academic potential was evident from an early age. In 1980 Jonathan graduated his senior year as Dux of The Don College in Devonport. He then moved to Townsville where he completed an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering at James Cook University in 1986, receiving First Class Honours and a University Medal. Along the way Jonathan was the recipient of many awards including the Allan Knight Prize for 2nd year engineering results, the Thomas Normyle Prize for 2nd year engineering results, the Kern Prize in Civil and Systems Engineering, and the Local Government Engineers Association of Queensland Prize.
