AECOM appointed on £130m+ science and technology build programme at Harwell Campus, Oxfordshire

AECOM, a premier, fully integrated global infrastructure firm, has been appointed to provide Project Management, Cost Management, Programmer and NEC3 Supervisor services on the UK’s Science and Technology Facilities Council’s (STFC) £130m+ building programme at the Harwell Campus, Oxfordshire. The services will be provided by AECOM’s specialist science team based in Abingdon.

This includes the new Government-funded Rosalind Franklin Institute (RFI) building, a joint venture between some of the UK’s leading universities and key partners in industry and four of the UK Research Councils.

The institute will be a national centre of excellence in technology development and innovation where scientists and engineers will collaborate to improve understanding of disease and enable faster discovery of new treatments.  The building programme will also deliver the expansion of the existing STFC RAL Space satellite testing facility.

Jonathan Puddle, AECOM’s head of healthcare and science UK & Ireland, explains:

“This appointment has been secured through the combination of our 10-year track record working with the Science and Technologies Facilities Council at the Harwell Campus and our experience delivering some of the UK’s world-leading science facilities.  Through our integrated capability we are committed to providing best value solutions, budget certainty and confidence in on-time delivery to ensure the UK maintains its position at the forefront of life science research.”
