AECOM provides safe, innovative management of high-risk, technically complex projects and programs in nuclear and hazardous waste facilities and site-remediation activities.

We have been at the forefront of nuclear- and hazardous-site management and cleanup since our predecessor, Holmes and Narver, was one of the government contractors for the Manhattan Project.

We are active in direct support of federal energy program achievements including the design and construction of renewable energy projects, microgrids and execution of Energy Saving Performance Contracts (ESPC) for federal agencies worldwide.

We provide consulting, engineering, design, construction, management, operations, environmental remediation, D&D and waste management services. We support the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and two of its major mission organizations — the National Nuclear Security Administration, responsible for the U.S. nuclear defense arsenal and related National Laboratories; and the Office of Environmental Management, responsible for defense waste management and environmental restoration — and the UK Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), responsible for both defense and commercial nuclear cleanup.  We are the only contractor involved in construction and/or operation of all U.S. and UK high-level nuclear waste vitrification facilities.

Our key personnel have extraordinary depth and breadth of experience in life-cycle management of hazardous and nuclear operations, and we employ the largest number of nuclear professionals in the industry, available for corporate reachback. In spite of the hazards inherent in our work, we have an exemplary safety record, and six sites under our purview have earned DOE’s most prestigious safety honor — Voluntary Protection Program “Star Status.”
