John Linares, Mechanical Engineering

Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) – East Los Angeles College, California

I was born and raised in El Salvador and have been living in the United States for four years.

Ever since I was young, I had a great interest in knowing how things worked, and during my high school years, I developed an appreciation for the sciences and decided to pursue a career in engineering.

I started community college in the fall of 2014 and I’m transferring to California State University, Los Angeles, for the fall of 2017. During my time in community college, I’ve learned the value of hard work and perseverance. I’ve also met amazing professors and classmates who’ve helped me achieve my goals.

My current short-term goal is to finish my bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, and then continue on to graduate school to pursue further education in a related field.
