The Province of Quebec selected AECOM, as part of a consortium, as the project/construction manager responsible for rebuilding the 40-year-old Turcot Interchange southwest of downtown Montreal. At a cost of CA$3 billion (US$3.01), the project involves rebuilding the Turcot, De La Vérendrye, Angrignon and Montreal West interchanges, as well as stretches of Autoroutes 15, 20 and 720.

The Turcot Interchange is a major traffic hub in the Montreal area, connecting Autoroutes 15, 20 and 720 and facilitating access to the Champlain Bridge. It is also a vital link between the Montreal Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau International Airport and downtown. At the crossroads of the two busiest autoroutes in Québec, the Turcot Interchange is the most important interchange in the Montreal area, providing effective movement of goods and services as well as access to major recreation and employment centers.

As the project/construction manager, AECOM is providing project oversight; validating design criteria and engineering concepts; preparing environmental, health and safety project standards; coordinating all (up to 50) professional services contracts; coordinating bid packages; participating in the acquisition process, an alternative delivery mode; managing construction; and assisting the owner in managing the alternative delivery mode agreement.

The project location includes high-density residential and commercial areas with heavy traffic of approximately 280,000 vehicles per day that must be maintained throughout the project’s duration. AECOM is also coordinating the needs of numerous stakeholders, including multiple municipalities, public utility companies, transport agencies, railroad companies, citizen associations, and other governmental agencies.
