(May 10, 2016) — On April 16, the Consulting Engineers of Ontario (CEO) recognized our work on the Union Station and Front Street revitalization project.
At this year’s CEO Awards Gala — Ontario’s most respected industry awards program — AECOM came away with the night’s highest prize, the Willis Chipman Award, for the Union Station and Front Street revitalization project in the heart of downtown Toronto.
AECOM received the award for project management, detailed design and construction services on this high-visible revitalization project, which was substantially completed in 2015.
The seamless collaboration between hundreds of professionals from multiple AECOM services and capabilities allowed completing the project in time for the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.
“These are exciting times in Canada from an infrastructure perspective, particularly in the transit world,” says AECOM project manager Abbas Khayyam. “For this project, work was done with 200,000 passengers flowing through the station each day, and it had to be completed with a very firm deadline, in time for the Pan Am Games.”
The Willis Chipman Award is bestowed upon consulting engineering firms whose projects best demonstrate technical excellence and innovation and contribute to Ontario’s economic, social and environmental quality of life.
