The purpose of the Yannawa wastewater treatment project is to provide wastewater collection and treatment for the Bangrak, Sathorn, BanKhor Laem and Yannawa districts of Bangkok with a combined area of approximately 2,850 hectares. An obstacle that the AECOM team faced was constructing the new plant in a heavily populated area on a confined site. This made land available for traditional plant layouts impossible.
To mitigate this AECOM designed a new and innovative ‘multi-story’ sewage treatment works that utilizes fixed speed flow to full treatment pumps as well as fixed speed storm pumps, coarse and fine screens, screenings handling equipment, grit classifiers, interstage pumping station, cyclic activated sludge system, air blower installation, night soil storage, sludge treatment and dewatering, multi-stage wet scrubber odor control plant building and other rated site services.
